Transalpina

Transalpina (DN 67C) este o sosea din Muntii Parâng, în Carpatii Meridionali. Este cea mai înaltã sosea din România, având punctul cel mai înalt în Pasul Urdele (la 2.145 m). Drumul face legãtura între orasele Novaci din judetul Gorj si Sebes din judtþul Alba. Fiind un drum alpin, este închis pe perioada iernii.

Drumul dinspre Novaci este asfaltat doar pânã la Rânca (1.600 m). În continuare, drumul este cu bolovani si grohotis, fiind nerecomandat pentru autoturismele cu garda la sol joasã, precum si pentru cele cu resurse de putere reduse, având în vedere pantele destul de abrupte care urmeazã.

Începuturile acestui drum sunt neclare. Unele surse sustin cã a fost construit prima datã de legiunile romane în timpul rãzboaielor cu dacii, motiv pentru care pe hãrtile de istorie este trecut sub denumirea de “coridorul IV strategic roman”.

Existã si o legendã localã, care spune cã, la sfârsitul secolului XVIII si la începutul secolului XIX, fiecare familie a participat la construirea unei portiuni din acest drum, în functie de posibilitãtile fizice si financiare ale sale.

Potrivit altor surse, ºoseaua a fost construitã ºi pietruitã de nemþi în timpul primului rãzboi mondial, din raþiuni militare, însã a fost foarte puþin folositã.

Transalpina a fost reconstruitã în perioada interbelicã ºi datã în folosinþã în 1935, când a fost inauguratã de regele Carol al II-lea.

Drumul a mai fost reabilitat în timpul celui de-al doilea rãzboi mondial, când nemtii aveau nevoie de aceastã cale de acces din motive militare. De atunci a fost foarte putin întreþinut.

Este prevãzutã modernizarea acestui drum pe o distantã de 148 de kilometri, între Sebes, judetul Alba si Bengesti, judetul Gorj.
